We’re delighted to share that Café No.8 Bistro is a dog‑friendly restaurant, and we warmly welcome guests and their well‑behaved four‑legged companions into our cosy, independent bistro on Gillygate in York.
Whether you’re joining us for a delicious meal, a hot or cold drink, or simply popping in for dessert, your pooch is very welcome to come along and relax by your side.
While we love having dogs visit, our priority is to ensure that everyone enjoys their time at Café No.8 Bistro. With that in mind, we’d be grateful if you could take a moment to read our friendly dog‑etiquette guidelines below.
Café No.8 Bistro’s Dog Guidelines
Café No.8 Bistro is a small, modern fine‑dining restaurant with around 40 covers. Our intimate space creates a lovely atmosphere, but it does mean that not every dog will feel comfortable here. If your dog is calm, settled, and happy in a cosy environment, we’d be thrilled to welcome them.
To help keep the space enjoyable for all guests, we kindly ask that:
- Your dog stays close to your table and doesn’t approach other guests.
- Noise is kept to a minimum so everyone can enjoy a peaceful meal.
- Walkways remain clear, and dogs stay off the furniture and fixtures.
If you’ve enjoyed a muddy adventure beforehand, we’d really appreciate it if you could clean your dog before coming inside, it helps us keep the bistro comfortable for everyone.
We’re unable to welcome breeds covered by the Dangerous Dogs Act, but all other friendly faces are welcome.
Because of our limited space, we also ask that you give us a call on 01904 653 074 before visiting with your dog. This helps us make sure we can comfortably accommodate both you and your pooch without overcrowding.
We believe hospitality extends to our furry guests too, which is why you’ll find a fresh bowl of water waiting just outside our entrance for thirsty pups.
